Happy fashion week LaPazions, I’m really excited sitting here at the Betsey Johnson runway show because, this is a major day. It’s not only the anniversary of 9/11; it’s also Betsey’s anniversary of 50 years in the industry. 50 years, I mean seriously this woman has become a staple to so many and her creativity just keeps bubbling forth.
When I attend a Betsey Johnson runway show; there is so much positive energy and great flowing movement, laughter and a spirit of lightheartedness to the room. I see many of the cast members of Orange is the New Black front and center and; I also heard that this show is dedicated to Betsey’s dance teacher/Choreographer who brought her to New York-you just have to love Ms. Johnson!!
Here is a look into the creative mind of Betsey Johnson and what she presented:
LaPazions, as I sat looking at the collection coming down the runway, there is a piece of me that wants to look and wear this… I mean my personal style is more like Designer Carolina Herrera but, deep inside there is definitely a very fun, free spirited and out right rebel that sometimes comes out and shows her face; and this is EVERYTHING that Betsey Johnson stands for.
She gave us a decade of fashion to celebrate her 50 years in the industry. This runway show was very well thought out and planned because, we started with the present which was kind of an ode to Nicki Minaj, when she was on the outrageous side of fashion, then the 90’s grunge era, 80’s all about hard rock and jumpsuits, the 60’s which gave very wearable content then to the 50’s. I love the whimsy and out right abandonment that Betsey brings to the close of every show-Her signature cartwheel and split get’s better with time:
