Well my Beautiful Fashionista’s and Fashionisto’s can you believe we’re about to say good-bye to 2011 and HELLO to 2012? I mean it seems like I was just sitting here and saying good-bye and HELLO to 2011 anyway,  you know I normally give you the sexy, hot and always Fabulous Look for your New Years Eve Bash!! This wrap of this season is what was hot, sexy, trending and some of the most whoa! moments in 2011.

LET’S GET THIS ARTICLE J.U.M.P.I.N.G.!!

2011 started in the Greatest way possible in our mind we could feel the energy all through January waiting for February 9-16 which is none other than……“FASHION WEEK!” YES it is Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and Couture Fashion Week, that is right on the heels of MBFW February 18-20.  Now MBFW & CFW is here and the Designers are just showing some of the most breathtaking, exciting and incredible collections. I’m so in love with this coming season’s looks that I cannot begin to tell you how amazing they were. We was treated to such a wide array the colors where like candy. here is your little refresher from Fashion Week:

Fashion Week was just breathtaking and exciting and just blew our minds! The differences between MBFW and CFW is so huge that I cannot begin to tell you. Every year I attend CFW makes me feel like I can stop MBFW. I love the setting of CFW we’re in the magnificent Waldorf Astoria Hotel, which is just Opulent and put you in the mood to see the gorgeous fashions. I know it was a wonderful way to start off 2011.  Hmmmm! The next trend for the Year 2011 moved in with a Real POP of color! It is none other than Makeup!! The Trend offered fun and accessible uses of makeup and gave us pretty in pink, a softer and sexier side in the makeup box:

Mstory Pink is beautiful

This color for the Lips, cheeks, eyes, top and nails splashed onto the 2011 trend meter.  Even some of the top Celebrities rocked this look in some different ways:

Lady Gaga loved it so much that she lent her celebrity to MAC for their brand VIVA GLAM collection. She believed in this so much that she even allowed them to down play her look and she also looked normal for the 2nd year in a row as the Princess of VIVA GLAM:

Gaga MacRight Lady Gaga was totally Fabulous in this ad and showed such a different softer side of her Mommy Monster self in 2011. Which rocked us right into the VMA Awards, I mean everyone was strutting their stuff on the Red Carpet this 2011 and we received a surprise from one of the Biggest Diva’s on the Map!! Beyonce let all of America know that she and her Rapper Mogul of a Husband J-Z are expecting. Major the press and everyone attending the VMA’s were just so excited and it caused a major standing ovation when she performed and at the end of her Song threw her jacket open and rubbed her very prominent belly:

Which lead us directly into something a little more classier and more regal which only could be the Royal wedding. This brought more attention to all things Fabulous, Fashionable, Sexy and Oh so Alexander McQueen!  Alexander’s head Designer, Sarah Burton didn’t let him down in anyway what so ever when we took our first look at then Kate Middleton’s Wedding Gown:

Kate Middleton1 BRITISH FASHION AWARDS

Kate’s gown was very simplistic and had a very romantic feeling to it but, I think we expected more. We also was introduced to the Duchess little sister Pippa, who kind of upstaged the Duchess with her banging figure and her sexy gown by Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton. Also the Fascinator that are rather regular in England for ladies attending different events and wedding of the Royals.   The Fascinator became also another great Trend for the year of 2011:

Moving further into our ever so Fashionable year 2011  Americas Family and guilty obsession you know who it is stop pretending!! None other than the Kardashian came on the scene you know Kim Kardashian announced she got engaged to Basketball Player Kris Humphries who is 6’9” plays for the NJ Nets and is a Power Forward.  Needless to say, Kim had to one up her sister Khole and Lamar with her engagement ring which was about 20.5 Carat Diamond ring down to Kim’s Faux take of her Royal Wedding that would be aired on E! over and over again:

Then Smack in our face after only just a little tad-bit of time 72 days, which really felt like days to many that we chatted with this couple was filing CORRECTION In the every dramatic Fashion of Kim Kardashian’s Reality TV manner she files and flies off to Australia with her sister Khloe and brother-in-law Lamar Odom to pitch there line of handbags which by the way are to die for:

Kim K and Family handbag

Which then started the Trend for the celebs to Divorce your mate on Irreconcilable Differences which for me I feel the courts should NO longer allow this term. These Celebrities are going to go on some show with their head down and speaking softly ergo “Kim K”. Some of the ones that shed their ball and chain are: Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Ahlee Simpson and Pete Wentz, Jennifer Lopes and Marc Anthony and biggest and most sloppy Divorces has to be Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver:

Other things that took place in 2011 where some of the Top Pop scandals, Good-Byes, Trials and I’m not your Babies Daddy issues. We saw Charlie Sheen go into a Drug, Drunken “WINNING” Tirades that low and behold was a winner for him because he got his self together landed a new show and is watching his old show going up in flames with Ashton can you say Winning? Opera Winfrey said good-bye to her talk show after 25 years on air. She stated she didn’t know exactly where this may take her or what she maybe doing. We found out quickly that Opera would be launching her own television network entitled OWN. Now how original was that just Taking her initials, at first she saw how hard it is and has been launching something so large but, she is showing other how success is really brought to reality. Biggest News or scandal had to be the Justin Beiber I’m not your Babies Daddy! It just came out in such a BANG and it went to sleep so quietly that you wouldn’t even know there was ever a Situation! Then  we saw Lindsay Lohen going to trial after trial, the one day in Jail and then the Judge got very Serious with Lindsay and that was that. Lindsay got herself together she paid her due by working at the LA County Forensic office completed. The everyone cried to hear that Regis Philbin would be Retiring from Live with Regis and Kelly at the end of November. We don’t really know what Regis will be doing but, we know we and everyone else will miss him along with Kelly for our morning cup of coffee:

Then to wrap up our Fabulous and always fashionable year 2011, has to be FASHION WEEK Spring/Summer 2012!! We took in MBFW and of coarse just like any of our other times of Fashion week we fell in love with the one and only Badgley Mischka, Carolina Herrera, Betsey Johnson and all the Celebrities that came to the show! This was our wonderful close of the year for us and how much we enjoyed bringing this to all of you, taking you backstage and the interviews just every part of MBFW was breathtaking!

Rocking Style at Any AGE:

I’ve been telling you all for a number of months that I was going to start capturing women of a certain age that are still rocking, stylish and always fabulous in their own Fashion Forward way, what keeps them looking so good.  Well, my Fabulous ones we have our first fabulous Street Chic Fashionable Lady who is really was rocking her own style! What caught my eye was this fabulous Floral pocketbook that she was carrying:

Talbots bag1

I know its such a lush, fabulous and fashionable bag by Talbots.  Yvonne G. of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania stated this pocketbook was originally $159.00 but, she got it for $12.99 which not only makes her an Amazing Fashionista but, she is also a Savvy-Fashionista. This shows that Yvonne, has a great eye for the unique, statement pieces and such a great way to rock this statement piece to draw attention to: The BOLD floral print on a great background, the golden hardware and along with the Fabulous Talbots logo is what makes this pocketbook a Too Die For Item.  Yvonne not only caught my eye, she also caught the attention of my mother and several other in the little bistro.  Then, as she came closer to me and I started speaking with Yvonne, I started to notice how beautiful her skin is and how warm and welcoming her eyes are as she spoke with me. Then Yvonne, stunned me when I asked her, if she didn’t mind me asking her age? She shyly answered well, I’m in my 50’s and I basically fell out of my chair (not Literally) I thought she was going to say in her early to mid 40’s.  This is what I call Mature Fabulousity and confident in rocking her style chicness (new word I made up)!!

Yvonne was rocking this fabulous pair of Red Corduroy Slacks, a very soft-plush Dark Cable Knit Sweater and a beautiful detailed Scarf that just was draped around her neck that Totally completed her look, I have to introduce all of you to the Stunning Yvonne G.!

Yvonne2I not only enjoyed capturing Yvonne because she was natural and posed so organically in these photos.  The people around us was looking on and drinking in her style was great, and the comments after she walked away were just great.  I told those looking on that I was capturing her for an article I am writing “Rocking Style at Any Age”. The individuals stated I picked a great person for the article. Then like I stated above her manner just made me want to keep asking her questions but, she was trying to enjoy her lunch with her husband so I let her go.

In closing, I’d like to thank Yvonne G. of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for kicking off our “Rocking Style at Any Age” Thank you again Yvonne and I hope you feel I did this article justice! Wishing you and your Family all the best and Continued Success in Everything!

OOPS!! Did They Really Wear That?

 Diva shot

Article By: Sonya LaRae-Editor-in-Chief

Editor:  Toni Witter

Freelance Photographers: N. Remond, T. Romos, S. Losonto

We’re always praising how gorgeous, fabulous and couture these Celebrities always look. We’re clamoring to get the shot and to hear who they are wearing, how many dresses they went through to find the right look for the Red Carpet. The celebrities are flaunting their looks, posing for pictures and ready at a whim to say who they are wearing. Then one day, when their Stylist takes a day off or they have no mirrors in the dressing area, they take to the Red Carpets and we go into SHOCK!!

Prime example is when Paris Hilton was at a Soiree in Spain and she Hit the Red Carpet in this:

Paris Hilton

I don’t really know what Paris was thinking with this outfit but, whatever it was just is WRONG! Black tights, Pink shoe, this pattern dress with huge flowers and the shagged rug of a jacket. Need I really say any more regarding this except OOPS?

That even goes for some of our Fabulous male celebrities that hit the Red Carpet or who attend Star Studded Gala’s you think to yourself “You couldn’t ask the Wardrobe Stylist from your show to give you a hand?” Ergo Alan Cumming of the Oscar winning show “Good Wife,” his character Eli is this savvy, suave and well dressed character:

Alan Cumming

Yes this is Alan Cumming we know its bad the geometric, psychedelic pattern just make you dizzy, and it has the nerve to be a pant suit. Alan, decided to wear this horrific outfit to the Star Studded Versace Gala for H&M Fashion Fete. I think even if this is Versace, he would not had minded if he didn’t wear this. All we can say is OOPS.

We’re use to seeing Lady Gaga at her oddest such as the Meat dress, the Rebirth in the egg, the feathered dress with feathers on her face and beading just to name a few but, when she received the Bambi Award, she wore this rather different gown that was just very odd and lived up to her style, for that very reason she receives the OOPS:

Lady GagaCarrie Underwood is normally styled just beautiful and very elegant. I don’t think she has ever been on the worst dressed since she won American Idol.  This wonderful singer always seems to make the right choices until Wednesday, when she was Co-Hosting the Country Music Awards (CMA’s):

Carrie Underwood

This dress looks like a hospital gown with some sort of tulle just pinned onto the front, which hikes the dress up on one side. Why would they do this to this Fabulous singer..Hmm? Maybe, that’s just it, they had to do something to stop this Award winning Fabulous Singer, who is married to a very hunky husband and handsome by the way did I mention her husband, is also a Professional Hockey Player. Need I say any more than OOPS..

Demi Lovato you know Kim Kardashian’s BFF, had a ruff year with the attempted suicide, drugs and what not. Demi really turned things around completed rehab, and is making music again looking Amazing, at parties and her music Video was just too Hot for words, but:

Demi Lovato This wasn’t the case, when she walked the Green Carpet for the 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. This Backward deep plunging gown just isn’t flattering to Demis’ curvy figure. The sleeves are too long, the dress doesn’t really seem tailored her new red hair is clashing with the gown and the bright red lipstick. Only thing to say right about now is OOPS.

I guess sometime Celebrities have off days just like everyone else but, only bad thing is everyone sees when your Top celebrities make bad choices.  We’re going to give you a few more that we thought should have an honorable mention on our OOPS List. Katy Perry at the MTV EMA’s, Condolezza Rice at Glamour’s 2011 Woman of the Year Awards and Johnny Depp who just get’s so caught up and stuck in his roles:

Hope you enjoyed this article and we always look for feedback.  We’re looking forward to reading your comments. Don’t forget to tune into our Bi-Weekly Blog-Radio Show located at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/lapaziamgeing

Black Girls Rock!

Diva shot2Article by: Sonya LaRae-Editor-in-Chief

Editor: Toni Witter

Photographs by: N. Bremond Freelance & Photos of Theater, Leanna archer, Mari Malik and Dyci Manns from the internet

Monday night many of you might have watched Black Girls Rock! that came on one of the BET Networks.  The show took place at the Historic Lowes Paradise Theater in Bronx, NY. This show not only had a star studded audience it had a majestic place that gave a beautiful backdrop for what was about to take place.

Paradise Theater2 Paradise Theater  This event promises to be fabulous starting from the Honorees: Activist Angela Davis-Icon Award, Gospel Great Pastor Shirley Caesar-Living Legend Award, Actress Taraji P. Henson-Star Power Award, President NWBA Laurel J. Richie-Shot Caller Award, Human Rights Activists Imani Walker and Malika Saada Saar-Trailblazer Award and Actress Tatyana Ali-Young Black & Gifted Award

The show opened up with Eryak Badu’s performance and it was such a great performance and her style was very Eryak Badu(ish) meaning that she was bringing her own touches, with a black jacket that was detailed with gold and the pants, made you think of riding pants which I thought was great, I just have to show you:

Erykah BaduTold you she looked very cool, then the Co-Host were introduced and it was the beautiful and talented Actresses Tracee Elise Ross and Regina King. These ladies looked just amazing Tracee wore a black sequined gown and Regina wore this too cute white halter jumpsuit that showed off her sculptured arms, Mrs. Obama isn’t the only women that has arms to die for.

Tracee Elise Ross and Regina King00

Drop dead gorgeous if I may say so myself.  This event was filled with so much class, grace and elegance, I say this because many times you watch Award shows where the Presenters, Performers and Host or Hostess act rather provocative and their language is not very desirable at all.

Now regarding presenters talk about Black Girls Rock! They had the whose-who that presented live on the show: Super Model Alek Wek, Lala Anthony, Tichina Arnold and Sharon Leal:

Tichina Arnold Alek Wek LaLa Anthony Sharon Leal

Lala Anthony was the first presenter of the evening and she wore this beautiful cream color lace dress with the most GORGUES pair of shoes and her hair pulled back just perfectly. Lala presented Taraji P. Henson with the Star Power Award. Taraji delivered a tearful but, riveting message to black women stating “Support each Other” and she also thanked her son, which the audience gave a thunderous applause. She wore a very basic dress that looked like a snake print and black heels, I don’t really think this dress was that great for the evening but, I’ll let you judge:

Taraji P. Henson Then there was appearances from other fabulous A-List Ladies, the Whose-who that appeared via the very large LCD screen as: Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, Anita Baker, KeKe Palmer and a very pregnant Nia Long and several others that had great things to say to everyone watching and those who were in attendance at:

Black Girls Rock Logo

Then we had Melanie Fiona that performed, and I have to say prior to her singing I could not tell you who she was.  Melanie, performed her new song “This Time” which, she did a wonderful job, always sounds so pitch perfect.  Now what she wore for her performance not so let’s say pitch perfect, Shorts with a long dress that looked like it was gathered up right at the waist of the shorts, then pined with a broche, wedged heels that made Melanie look a little clumpy something was just off with this look. Personally, Melanie’s Red Carpet dress worked better for me than what she selected to perform in, tell me your opinion:

Melanie Fiona Melanie Fiona3

Anther Honoree was introduced, for the Living Legend Award. The Honoree was the one and only Gospel great Ms. Shirley Caesar. Speaking of a true living legend, Pastor Shirley Caesar, just a few years back suffered a heart attack while performing and right after she came out of recovery wanted to know when she could go on with her ministry? This amazing Gospel singer is 73years old but, I like to say Ms. Caesar is one of the youngest 73yr. olds I’ve seen. The energy in which she performs, the way that she truly sings her music with such true vigor and strength you see, hear and feel the love she has for GOD, I’d like to give you Pastor Shirley Caesar:

Shirley Ceaser2

Then we were introduced to three MAD young ladies, no not like that we mean “Making A Difference.” These young ladies are making an impact on their communities and setting fine examples for other young people that may be looking on: LeAnna Archer, Mari Malek and Dyci Manns, are doing major things in their young successful lives. I want to introduce you to the successful and motivational MAD young lady:

Mari Malek

Mari Malek 24-Has taken the lead position in giving back by cofounding and running Southern Sudan Initiatives Inc. this program benefits the Lost Children of the Southern Sudan to find out more information regarding this young ladies company visit http://www.marimalek.com This young lady has taken helping others to the next level.

Leanna Archer  Leanna Archer 15- At age 9 Leanna was already the CEO of her very own Hair Care products. Then in 2008 she developed Leanna Archer Education, which gives underprivileged Children in Haiti a better education.  Leanna, is doing great things and she is going to be someone that you will see on many other Award shows and Talk shows that will open the doors for more people to get involved. Visit http://www.leannashair.com to see the products.

Dyci Manns  Dyci Manns 22- Creator of Model26 a program that provides financial assistance and counseling to College students pursuing Social and Human Rights internships or for those who participate in short-term volunteer programs abroad. Dyci also has Do Something you can learn more by visit: http://www.dosomething.org

The organizations that these 3 young ladies have developed should motivate all of us young and old alike to get involved.  I’m having such a great time and the show is just packed with so many things, that I just cannot begin to put it all into this blog. Then we was treated to the smooth sounds of Jill Scott.  Jill, started her performance with an original poem, that was motivational, that lead right into her smash hit “Hate on Me Hater.” OMG! This profound artist can change her music up and take it to new levels each time you hear it, then her look.  Stop The Presses! Jill looks to good for words in all honesty, the big hair, the charcoal sequin pant suit (side note: Now as a Stylist I would not have put her in this type or cut of pants, I would have placed her in a better silhouette for her particular body type)and the shoes was just FIRE!! I just have to let you all see Ms. Scott:Jill Scott2 Jill Scott

Jill, is dropping LBS owning her beauty her strength this is on fierce artist!!  Moving right into the next honoree of the evening, we’re introduced to the first black woman who runs a major sports league WNBA, Laurel J. Richie who is presented with the Shot Caller Award. Laurel J. Richie is very respected has such an amazing story and her accomplishments read like a true biography. I have to tell you Laurel, stated in her speech something that just rang in my ears “Giving conviction and self-worth to all black women is something necessary in build the future.”  Why I stated this rang in my ears, is because I feel this is necessary for all women and that we have to instill conviction and self-worth in young ladies starting a a very young age. Now own to what she wore for this evenings festivities, I like this particular dress that she choose to wear because it was simple but the details were the sleeves.  I loved the fluted ruffled sleeve very classic and elegant her hair was neatly styled and her shoes where nice, I must let you meet her:

Laurel Richie

After Laurel J. Richie finished her acceptance speech, we were treated to another performance. Many of you have heard of this next talented artist Elle Varner, I hadn’t heard of her nor her music, so I was really interested to see and hear this artist. Elle Varner came out on the stage and her look is very cool, I love her beautiful curly hair, her bold colored tunic and the leggings  very modern and chick Loving it!! Then she started to sing and I loved her even more, she has this voice that is a little raspy and her upper notes just chirp, the energy is very high.  If you don’t know about this artist trust me, do yourself a favor and go out and buy her CD she was just that good. Let me introduce you to Elle Varner:

Elle Verner2 Elle VernerThen the incredible Alek Wek came out onto the stage to present the Trailblazer Award to Imani Walker and Malika Saada Saar. Alek looked just perfect and as beautiful as she did the first time walking the Runway. They started playing the tape of Imani Walker and Malika Saada Saar, these ladies are true Trailblazer’s. They are Human Rights Advocates for justice, dignity and policy reform for venerable women and girls in the United States and in Africa. If you would like to learn more about The Rebecca Project please visit http://www.rebeccaproject.org Let me introduce you to Imani Walker and Malika Saada Saar:

Imani Walker and Malka Saada Imani Walker and Malika Saada Saar2Then the singing duo of Mary Mary was introduced and they performed the 1980’s song Optimistic by Sounds of Blackness.  I have to tell you the Mary’s sometime confuse me because, I know they are Gospel singers but, where is the preverbal lines that they will not cross? Tonight’s performance has to be the first that they did not have some kind of questionable outfits on and that the music was about inspiring.  I hope you all enjoyed Mary Mary, your look at the duo:

Mary MaryThen Sharon presented the Icon Award to Angela Davis, they started playing Ms. Davis story. She is well known for her activism and fighting for the rights of equality and some that were just making statements and even raised awareness. Angela Davis severed 6 years in prison and  was a part of the Black Panthers, we’d like to introduce you to the one and only Ms. Angela Davis:

Angela DavisThen Tichina Arnold came on stage to present Young Black and Gifted Award to Tatyana Ali.  Tatyana started her career at the young age of 6, as an actress on Sesame Street, then she got her big break on the show that all of us remember her from as Ashley Banks on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air the baby sister who was really loveable and cool who Will always looked out for and clowned around with.  After her stint on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Will Smith asked Tatyana if she was serious about her music and did she really want to be a singer.  Needless to say she sad yes and her album “Kiss the Sky” went Certified gold. Now she stars in a new show that is produced by Martin “Love that Girl” that is in its second season and also has been picked up for another season.  Now we see why she is receiving the Young Black and Gifted Award, we give you Ms. Tatyana Ali:

Tatyana Ali2Then to close out the night Mary J. Blige, I have to tell you she never looked or sounded better than she did Monday night. She is singing “My Life” she had the audience just rocking and she is just flowing into her notes, can you say “Show Stopper”! Then after she finished singing My Life she began singing “Just Fine” that sounded fabulous. I love Mary’s new image, sound and happiness that she is feeling, you have to see Mary J. Blige!

Mary J Blige Mary J Blige2I hope you all enjoyed the coverage from this years Black Girls Rock! Its nice to see some of the major accomplishments that women of color are achieving, and I hope that it will motivate you no matter what your age or nationality. Ladies please support each other in Life, Business and Friendships, don’t tare down the next woman because of your lack of self-confidence.
