Art, Porn or is it Fashion?

Hey LaPazions, you may or may not have heard of the above mentioned magazine from France but, this is tantamount to like the USA’s Playboy magazine (which I don’t really know if Heffner would appreciate us comparing the two). Lui, actually started to have a major decline and was considered to be more of a pornographic magazine then a high-end gentlemen’s entertainment magazine. I don’t necessarily see Playboy as a high-end entertainment magazine either, it all demeans women and objectifies them in a way that most women wouldn’t want any many looking at them.  I guess that is why we here at Lapazimageing Fashion Forward was stunned to see none other than Rihanna as the covergirl for this particular magazine.

We know that most of you have already heard all of the controversy and some may have even seen the total front nude shots that Rihanna posted up on her Instagram. Which by they way; Instagram had her remove the photos, and then Rihanna gave a quirky reply as if they were acting kind of prudish toward her photographs.  Rihanna is no stranger to pushing the envelope and I guess we shouldn’t be taken back by this but, it made me start thinking when does that preverbal line get drawn with these so called “entertainers”? I unfortunately, as the Editor-in-Chief of our magazine had to view the photos and; I personally didn’t see the art form nor the fashion end to the shoot and being that we also have minors that follow us I will not show any of the more racy photos here on our site. I can show you only one picture from the photo shoot that isn’t suggestive nor is it offensive:6a00e54ef96453883401a511aba830970c-700wiWe’ve seen Rihanna in many different shots that are edgy, from her V Magazine shoot with Kate Moss to her GQ cover in December of 2012, where she basically wore just a leather jacket. We know Rihanna has no issue with baring her body or showing off what she is working with but, this being stated; what does it tell young girls that are looking at these ones as and I use this term very loosely “Role Models”? I think I need to breakdown this term so people understand what the true meaning of “Role Model” is:

A “Role Model” is a person whose behavior, example, or success is or can be emulated by others, especially by younger people.

With the definition being broken down, can you honestly say, you want your young person emulating such behaviors or even taking selfies of herself in such suggestive posses?

I look forward to hearing all of your feedback regarding this article and even regarding the photo shoot that Rihanna did for Lui magazine.
