This years Mercedes Benz Fashion Week proved to be very hectic and somewhat exhausting but, we always love being apart of all the hype, the fabulous fashionistas and fashionistoes. I think this season had many highs and some lows and not as many surprises as we all hoped for; we felt like we had traveled back in time and visited and era of our parents and that we’ve seen it done before and sometime; some things are better left alone to keep the integrity and natural appeal of the era. Now with this being stated, I guess our first recap would have to be Badgley Mischka that was so amazing, Red Carpet ready and I could see so many A-list clients wearing several of these looks. We loved the fabric choices, the fur, the different mixes in textures and oh the gloves-such a must have:
The way that Badgley Mischka puts their collection together is so breathtaking and they always think of the silhouette. They think classic, chic, fashion forward but, most of all the real woman’s curves and flattering fabrics that make a woman look sexy but, not over the top. Badgley Mischka make Designing look so easy and effortless each time they present and we haven’t seen one season that has disappointed or flat lined much like some other Designers. Next, we loved Carolina Herrera, who brought such a new flavor and flair to her line which we truly could not believe! Carolina brought out a younger chic and flirtier side of herself which was amazing and the fabric choices were brilliant and different then the mixing of textures and the furs, couldn’t take our eyes off this:
We love how Carolina brought such a Fabulous cohesive feeling and, most importantly she also stayed close to the integrity of her brand and it felt fresh and alluring that would appeal to all types. OMG!! Let me tell you about the QVC king Dennis Basso, which was REDICULOUS and gave that old but very modern classic and style savvy Hollywood feel; that really made us see how he is the KING of QVC and why so many women love his clothing and the brand:
It was so difficult for us to even select which photos to even place into this review, is how fabulous this collection really is!! Dennis Basso brought what he does best the fur coats and stoles his most dead on trademark; which is totally a must in our minds for any woman that is making a true statement and a real socialista- Dennis Basso one word “Ahmazing!!” Then our Editor-in-Chief had us cover Vera Wang because, her niece is in love with Ms. Wang but, in all honesty we wasn’t looking forward to this at all. I hate to say this but, this collection flat-lined/failed for us. It seemed like we’ve seen the looks before the fabric choices just didn’t do anything for us and we just wanted to see more from her this season due to the fact that last season just didn’t do much of anything for anyone and everyone just was looking for her to step up and knock it out the park:
I hate to say this and even our Editor-in-Chief had to agree that this collection was NOT very cohesive and it just didn’t have a great vibe. Once again we felt that the models looked like death warmed over and that it just didn’t give us what we wanted from Vera Wang the Diva of Bridal-Maybe that’s just it. she needs to stay in her lane which is bridal wear. Then we went to the Queen of fun and originality which is the one-and-only Betsey Johnson. She brought her zany, fun and ever so eccentric manner to the runway. We love Betsey with all our hearts and we love that she always brings life and energy to each collection be it fall/winter or spring/summer:
Betsey is so cleaver she had all the models come down the runway on the cellphone, which is so cool. The crazy hair which was so reminiscent of her very own hair was just too funny and this seasons collection felt like we should be in the gym and we loved the oversized totes. In our mind Betsey really just has such a whimsical and playful way of taking fashion into a great direction and gives you just a moment of the Alice in Wonderland feeling.
This is just the tip of the Fashion Iceberg and we will be back with the rest of the review from this years MBFW Fall/Winter 2013 season.
