The Anticipated Royal Wedding and the Bride’s Gown!

Just in case you missed the most spectacular event of our time, we are speaking of the Royal wedding of Duke William and Duchess Kate of Cambridge, who just had their royal ceremony and we are here to tell you it was truly breathtaking!!  The anticipation of what Kate Middleton was going to wear has been the talk ever since the couple announced their engagement. Much speculation over who was going to design her gown and many where thinking that she would maybe go more traditional, but Kate went with one of the most magnificent, Creative and Awe-Inspiring Designers of our time! None other than Alexander McQueen Creative Designer Sarah Burton who has truly been busy! She didn’t only Design the Brides gown she also Designed Kate Middleton’s sister/Maid of Honors gown Pippa!!

Sarah Burton really took our breath away with this gown it had just the right details with the lace sleeves and V-neckline of the gown was just spot on. It was kind of a vintage look  making you think of Grace Kelly’s gown and how it showed her very tiny waistline and the small details from the beading and the buttons just really looked magnificent on Kate’s figure.   Here is your first look at Kate Middleton’s Wedding gown by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen:

We know it is truly just beautiful and then we know that Kate isn’t overly decadent with things and we loved the tiara that she wore its the 1936 Catier Halo Tiara just fitted perfectly for this new era Duchess!

Her jewelry was just perfect with her gown it wasn’t over or understated, very classic and modern.  We don’t want to forget about her maid-of-honor Pippa who is also her sister looked stunning in her Sarah Burton gown and it was just simplistic but elegant and had the small details of Kate’s wedding gown. The Royal Wedding had many different little elements to it that gave it the air of a more modern royal family and even the Abbey having beautiful live tress which gave an element of a park like setting. This is a new generation of Royalty and we saw from the night before with Prince Harry and William going out to shake hands and to thank those who where on the street and telling them they hope they all had coats, because it was going to be a rather chilly night.

Carol Middleton the mother of Kate Duchess of Cambridge, looked just regal and always with the air of class.  We know just what Kate will look like as she ages because she is such a replica of her beautiful mother who wore a blue dress and a hat by Designer Philip Tracy who did most of the hats that the ladies in attendance wore.  Carol Middleton was escorted to the Royal Wedding by her son James, Kate’s youngest brother who also read the scripture from Romans at the wedding:

We have to tell you the one moment that we truly loved was when the Royal couple was standing before the priest and Prince William was going to take his first look at his soon to be wife was just something special, because the pair shared a very sweet look at each other and a laugh; and it was a moment that you could see he still wanted to protect and make sure she (Kate) was okay and Kate in turn was looking so lovingly into Williams eyes and face assuring him she was doing very well:

I know you all have been waiting to find out what celebrities where in attendance of the Royal Wedding! We saw of course David and Victoria Beckham which by the way she never smiled once on the carpet going into the Abbey but, she looked amazing as well as David himself! David had on a fabulous tuxedo by World Renowned Designer Ralph Lauren his Purple Label which you know I was surprised being that as you all know Beckham was the spokes model for Armani last year.  Anyway Victoria wore one of her own Designs and looked quite beautiful in her Navy dress that had this detailing in the back and didn’t show off her baby bump as you know the couple is expecting their third child and reportedly its a girl.  Victoria’s hair was pulled back in a simple ponytail and the fedora that she wore was just elegant!! Style wise this couple knocked it out the park as always!!

Other famous faces that where in attendance was Guy Richie you know Madonna’s ex-hubby we know right now she is kicking herself for not being with him as his and 1.. Then there was also the Mayor of London Boras Johnson, Ben Fogle who is a air personality in England and his wife, Princess Diana’s Brother who is William and Harrys’ uncle was there with his fiancé who by the way is pregnant. (Sorry no photos of these ones)

Now we also saw Sir Elton John and his mate David Furnish who sat front row and they both looked rather dapper and loved their tuxedos!!

I know they look good and their dresses are so fashion forward!! These ladies didn’t take on their mothers style let’s be so grateful!!

We have to say in all honesty, as weddings go this one was just as memorable as Duke (a little odd not to say, instead of Prince) Williams mother and father’s wedding (the late Princess Dianna and Prince Charles).  I think people will be talking about this wedding for a long time and in some way it endeared this couple to everyone because, they know of Kate’s background and life style (not having a royal lineage) prior to her marrying William this is a true a modern day love story!!

To Bare Arms or Not To Bare Arms?!

Its so funny many times we get e-mails from reader/clients, asking us how to cover or disguise heavy arms.  One Reader of Lapazimageing Fashion Forward, asked us “was it something she could rub onto her triceps (aka bat wings) that would help her arms to look smaller for a short period of time or do we have a good Plastic Surgeon we could refer them to.”

This started us thinking that soon around the corner the warm weather will be here and the dilemma of sleeveless will come around once again!! Many woman with plump arms fret over how to hide their flabby and un-toned areas.  We have found with some just simple exercises work but for others its just a no win solution of whipping those bat wings into submission.. Well thankfully you’ve come to the right sight that can give you a few tips on how to disguise your body’s wiggles and jiggle parts (that quote taken from-Nisei Nash of Clean House and DWTS Fame).  Knowing how to cover heavy arms involves a simple understanding of flattering fashions.  I know you hear us speak of body-type all the time but, its true if you know your body-type you can cover, take away, enhance and much more!!

Step 1:

Avoid shirts and dresses with unflattering sleeves! If you have fat arms, sleeves that end anywhere between the elbow and shoulder leave your arms looking rather large instead of flattering.  These types of sleeves actually draw attention to your un-toned triceps, cap sleeves, which barely cover the shoulder, are particularly unflattering to women with heavier arms because the cut tends to highlight the least attractive part of the upper arm.

step 2:

Opt for shirts and dresses with long sleeves or three-quarter or elbow-length sleeves. By covering the upper arm completely, will give the illusion of the arm being smaller but if it hits just mid point on the arm it will make the arm look heavier.  Ladies believe it or not even though you have a heavier arm you could wear a sleeveless shirt depending on the width and style, you may initially feel uncomfortable wearing a sleeveless top, but this style is actually quite flattering on most women.  Choose a sleeveless tank or top cut close to the neck to reveal the subtle sexiness of the shoulder bones.

Step 3:

Wear a slimming undershirt underneath your clothes to conceal your arms’ bulges (great example is Wendy Williams when she appeared on DWTS) anyone and everyone knows how Ms. Wendy Williams speaks of her bat wings all the time well she did a great job of disguising them on the Dancing with The Stars show. The come in a wide range of styles and colors, slimming undergarments use specific fabrics and clothing technologies to discreetly shape the arms and prevent them from appearing fat or flabby. Celebrities have been doing this for years!! In many cases, these slimming shirts can be worn alone or underneath shirts, sweaters, jackets and dresses.

Step 4:

Provide an instantly slimming effect by choosing shirts in dark colors, such as black or navy blue. Since dark colors do not reflect much light, wrinkles, curves and bulges in the fabric remain relatively hidden.  However, avoid the shinny black fabrics, which will only highlight your problem areas.

Step 5:

Wear a jacket, shawl, shrug or cardigan to further cover up your arms.  Choose a color or style that will complement your outfit and skin tone.  If you are wearing jeans and a casual blouse, opt for a lightweight denim jacket or chunky sweater but, nothing that is going to add girth.  To hide your arms in business attire, don a structured blazer which will add a very professional look to your wardrobe.  When you’re out pool side, hide your arms with a casual button up shirt with sleeves rolled up to the elbow.

Step 6:

Enhance your outfit with bold accessories to draw attention away from your problem areas. This is a key element for us, rather than constantly fretting about your arms, focus on highlighting your assets!! If you are proud of your waist cinch it within a inch of your life and show off that tiny waistline, with a to-die-for Fabulous belt, have sexy legs go on flaunt what GOD has given you with a killer pair of stilettos or a really sexy pair of stockings, beautiful jaw-line and face wear a bold pair of earrings or a dramatic necklace can also draw attention away from your arms.

Whatever your issue is with your arms, trust us only you are really taking notice of this issue and you’re the only one that may feel like you have heavy or unflattering arms.  Be proud of that fabulous person you really are and know that any of these small issues can be styled!!

Day 3- Couture Fashion Week Sieges NYC- Focus Nigeria!

We’re back for our last day at Couture Fashion Week and we have had a great time!! The after parties have been amazing and just getting to see so many people that you don’t get to see until Fashion Week is really cool!!  I’m so pumped for today because we are going to see super talented Designers from Africa and just to see the fusion from there culture is going to make for a very HOT Show!!  Now what am going to wear today?  I have on another great outfit that Designer Yolanda Agnew+Fierce has designed and a lovely scarf from India, Hot Diamond earrings about 71/2 karats, Hot Vigoss Shoes, Silver BabyPhat Pocketbook!!

We are kind of waiting to see all the people that are going to be coming to this opening show!  I wonder how many are going to be here today because it was a full-house yesterday! The show is going to begin shortly and noticing there are still seats avail, I think the guest must be following the 30-35 min rule of MBFW but, Couture Fashion Week has been running basically on time just maybe 3-5 min off (Fashionable Late).  Its time and we see this stately looking gentleman come onto the stage with his Guitar and he starts to play this beautiful Latin inspired song (makes me think of my dad playing) he is so good and just the tones of the guitar are swelling into the room!! Next singer Angeles Dominguez takes to the stage and she sings such a beautiful song and once again she looks breathtaking:

Its time for the runway show to begin for Focus Nigeria and the first Designers collection that we are going to see is Reedas and the logo comes up on the LCD screen and you can see that everyone is poised and ready!! Photographers are set to shoot the first look that steps out on the runway and BAM!! This amazing little golden dress comes down the runway and you see everyone just drinking it in!! I mean I cannot almost tell you how beautiful it is the fabric is like of a Damask and it has the most amazing little detailing along the hem line!! OMG!! We are about to be wowed out of our minds by this Designer because the next look is just as FIERCE!!  THAT IS EXACTLY IT FIERCE!!  I’m so excited from the first two look that I have GOT to let you see it!!

I know hold the phone, stop the presses, do what you have to because this Designer is taking the Grand Ballroom for an amazing ride and she isn’t providing any kind of seat belts!! The ruching and the details on the sleeves, are just beautiful and the color pallet that she is working with is KILLING this collection!! Iridescent fabrics and the shoes stop playing are straight BANANAS!!  Love the hair and makeup because, it celebrates the class, dignity and elegance of this collection very cohesive and moving.. The wheat colors remind you of the plains of Africa and the coloring of the mane of a lion!! I cannot get enough of this!!

That is when my notebook just hit the floor!! The first look is this really beautiful Pink dress that stops just at the knee and is very form fitting and gorgeous!! The hem line has this like ruffling and how the ruffles are gathered makes it look like a flower!! HOT, if I may say so and then, the next little dress comes out and its too cute because it has a front pleat and hidden pockets and the fabric is just perfect and flirty for this kind of a dress!!  I’m taking that you all want to see this now?  Okay here is your first look at the House of Jola!

I’m loving this collection because its so different from the first Designer and she is giving like the cold shoulder dresses with the full-cape sleeve and then the jewel tones are beautiful.  I also like how the guy’s really look like guys and the jeans aren’t too tight and the fabric for the shirts just look amazing on them.  Its the small details of this collection that bring you into it and the shoes that have a heel of a tennis ball is just great!!  I like how the ties on the dresses fall right across the hip line and rest just so on the rear not taking away or bringing to much attention to maybe a problem area!!  This collection gets our Golden Stiletto Award!!

I could really see this on one of our young and trendy starlets rocking this with a pair of killer shoes!! I love the details of this collection and the Designer isn’t missing one step from each piece having its own unique feeling, texture and look but all being in harmony with the last or next pieces.. You can see and feel the life of this collection and it is bring in new and fresh air into the fashion industry!! I love the colors in this collection and the lace is just beautiful and adds that little something to it, like the flirtation of being sexy but, not over opulent and then its the shoes hair and makeup that balance it all off!!  These Designers are telling us very loudly that we will take notice of Nigeria and Africa of being Fashion Forward and they are BRINGING IT, Front and Center!!

I love that even though she showed jumpsuits they where so different and very stylish due to the fabric selection and the detailing of the sleeves, then you have the sheer Herm pants that had the ever so cute plaid shorts under it was just saying hot!!  I love the pearls and beading just gave the collection the sparkle that we love!! Day 3- Couture Fashion Week Sieges NYC- House of Farrah

The last Designer from Focus Nigeria is about to show and thus far each and every Designer from this group has really brought there A-game!! No flat lines or what where they thinking all the collections where just spot on and so cohesive!  The start with the music and I’m feeling this must be a singer from there area because I don’t know the song loving it though! Oh wow!! I’m loving our first look its this really sassy and cute asymmetrical dress with this great detailing at the bottom like almost hand painted but like a tribal band that you would see tattooed on someone’s arm! I love this concept and feeling giving such a great elegance to this line and with the shorter front it will highlight those gorgeous legs and skim nicely over the backside.. Great Concept!!

I love the flow of the fabric because its really holding the shape and its not stiff at all but well crafted! STOP PLAYING WITH US!! You should see this gown that just came onto the runway and the same tribal pattern but, its a tulip dress taken to the next level!!  I love this Designer and the very feminine quality to the collection is nice gives you the feeling of that Hollywood Glam, Society Social Light and just going to a wonderful black tie affair… I must have one of these in my collection of gowns!!

The variations in the colors and styles are flowing just like water and its free!! I mean in all honesty this Designer is bringing so many elements to this collection that is really breathtaking!  I love how she has done the appliqués on the jackets and blouses they are hand sown and the jeweled details from the belts and the little elements that are piped into the fabrics are just magnificent!! I must go and take in a Fashion Week in Africa now, cause if they are bringing this kind of High Fashion imagine what else is being produced!! I love each and everyone of these Designers!!

Brava!! BRAVA!! is all that can be stated, once this runway show is over we have a small intermission and I will be making my way over to the Producer and Director of the Focus Nigeria group to tell him how impressed and moved I am from his Designers!! They are FABULOUS with all caps!! LOVE THEM!!

The show is starting and this cute singer comes out Era Chorna, this singer is really amazing and has great vocals and channeling her inner ballerina (AKA) Black Swan!! Loving her so much!

its just breathtaking because its a dress made out of flowers! They are Purple Perennials and they have delicate little crystals in the middle that catch the light just perfectly!! This just innovative and if you can see how Era is walking and singing this song you would feel the romantic air of this collection!! I have got to let you see this dress its just simply beautiful!!

Who really thinks of something like this? I mean it is so unique and beautiful and the models are doing this slow and exaggerated walk that really makes you take notice of the garment and the flowers, then this little dress comes out that has like yellow Barberry flowers on the skirt part of the dress and its just so sweet!

The last look is the element of the bridal gown and its beautiful white roses and it is just breathtaking!! I love everything that this Designer has conceptualized for this runway collection and it is just something different and very out-of-the box and fresh and alluring to anyone that loves Fashion!! I’ve seen where Designers have done small effects with flowers but, this is really taking it to whole other level!!

The show is beginning and its very dramatic the lights are changing colors and the music is pumping and then the Designers Logo appears on the LCD Screen!! With an intro like this I’m so ready to see the first look!

The first look comes out on the runway and first things first I’m loving the models look!! I love the blown-out like 80’s-90’s hair and the very glam makeup, great look and then you see the clothing its the beautiful white crochet blouse and shorts and these killer boots!! Hot off the runways of Europe that is what this reminds me of!! I love crocheted items I did a full-article on this a matter of months ago so to see this Designer really bringing Couture to this is just amazing!! Fur on a crochet pocketbook stop playing this is just fabulous and a must have in any Fashionistas wardrobe!! You have got to see some of the things we are being wowed with your going to love them!!

As you look at this Designers collection you notice the small details, like the hand painted boots that are just something I would love to rock!! This look is so hot that its not even funny!! I like how she had worked with mohair and beading, the hooded sweaters are very chic and have a great look for day or evening.. Its not so sweater-ish that you feel like you can just run around in Uggs and Leggings its very high end and I love the shape of the sweaters and the vest that have fur are tailored just so.. Giving such great definition for the curvature of the body!! PERFECTION SIMPLE PERFECTION!!

Day 3- Couture Fashion Week Sieges NYC- Change in Designers!!

Okay we just got a major announcement that, Designer Lourdes Libman will not be showing today, she was involved in a car accident!  This was such disturbing news and everyone in the Grand Ballroom just gasped and gave warm wishes!! Each of the Photographers and Journalist we all had the same felling of just wanting her to be okay and that we hoped it wasn’t anything major..  We are then told that Designer Autumnlin Atelier was going to be showing in Ms. Libman place..

Now look, this is where I feel I need to almost place a Disclaimer for this Designer.. I don’t know if I should say, I had the pleasure of seeing her collection in Philadelphia or the Displeasure of seeing her collection. I will let you all be the judge of this one and the funny thing is they have Singer Christine Reber opening and there isn’t anything light and airy to this collection.. Okay Fabs, sit back and wait till you see what is coming your way!!

We are presented with this very dramatic kind of hard core music and then on the LCD screen the Designers Logo comes up and when I see it, it makes me feel like oh what are we in for now:

Then this image comes onto the stage and its Model Proverb, kind of walking like a zombie and looking very dark and ominous, the creep factor really hit the runway in a major way. I mean he (this model) has the most beautiful green eyes that are so dreamy but, not this time around they have very dark eyeliner under his eyes, he’s giving this hardcore look on his face and its just so not inviting! Then let me tell you about the clothing, the pants he’s wearing are like laced up from in between his legs from his ankles to his knees, which in turn is the reason for the Zombie like walk… Can you just say extreme times ten!!

Right at this point I closed my notebook and capped my pin, because what notes do I need on Gothic Creepiness?  I don’t know, I feel like the more this collection came out on the runway and the extreme makeup, hair and sound of the music, I was like where did you see within the full week of Couture Fashion that this sort of thing fit in.. For me I didn’t get the direction nor where the concepts very unrealistic and not very wearable.. Lady Gaga would have loved this Designer because, the element of weird and dark she landed hands down.. I don’t want to even spend much of my time on this particular article so I’m going to let you all see the collection draw your own opinions and move on from here!!

Well, I’m glad that is over and we have a slight intermission until our last show of this amazing Fashion Week.  I have to laugh because there are two young bloggers, that are seated behind me and now the show is closed out and they where like “”OMG, that was rather dark and I feel scared”.. Day 3- Closing of Couture Fashion Week Sieges NYC- Edward Asouni

Its the last show of this amazing event and I’m really looking forward to this!!  Opening the show for Edward Asouni is Singer Kaya! I love this look on her and she sounds great!

The music starts for this Designer and its like a count down, then the first look comes out on the runway and its this breathtaking, gorgeous gown that is just like floating down the catwalk!!  I’m so happy to see this first look, it has washed all the feelings and thought of that last runway show out of my mind!  I love the Crinoline and lace underskirt of this gown its such a classy but, a bit of old Hollywood feeling just wonderful!!

I would love to have been the fly on the wall when this collection was conceptualized, because the gowns are just intoxicating and the fluidity of this line is magnificent!! In all honesty you always have to save the best for last and this is really the best of the best of this evening!! I love the metallic fabrics, sequins and beading and so many of the small embellishments that play along the shoulder line and the skirting of the garments!! This collection is so heavenly and yummy that I have got to give you another helping of Edward Asouni’s collection!

In all honesty this collection was perfectly executed and developed into a real soul as each piece came onto the runway. It went from long flowing gowns to beautiful suits, bold colors and different textures, to the introducing of a gorgeous bride!! I’m so excited from everything that is being presented to me that sitting here just trying to tell you each and every detail is like running through my mind a top speed, and its like my fingers cannot type it out fast enough for you all to have it!! This Designer you can see the romantic story, the passion and desire from the moment of him developing this collection until the birth of the collection that is currently on the runway!!

I have to say this collection cohesively placed you in a mind set ready for everything that is Couture and not by any means did Edward Asouni disappoint!!

Wow!! This was really an amazing and astonishing Couture Fashion Week and I’m just thrilled to be able to bring it to all of you, and that you get to sit front row and see these amazing Designers!! 

I would like to thank my team for always supporting me and doing such and amazing job! I want to give a special thank you to my Photographer D. Robinson for really taking great photographs and capturing the real elements and spirit of Couture Fashion Week! Thank you to Yolanda Agnew for Designing Two Fabulous and amazing Couture outfits for me to wear during CFW!  Thanks to my family for always believing, loving, trusting and supporting me, because with out you all I would not be where I am today!!  Gracias y te amo mucho!!

**I would like to give a special thank you to Andres Aquino, for always producing such great runway shows and bring such elegance and grace to the world!!
